Summer was winding down, termination dust covered the high mountain tops and the colors were blazing, so
we decided to head up to Hatcher Pass for a late summer adventure. We had hiked in the area a couple of months earlier and were awestruck by the beautiful mountains
and endless tundra. We set out for a dayhike to Bald Mountain Ridge with hopes of summiting Government Peak, but were turned around while high atop the craggy ridgeline because
of dense cloudcover and unsure footing on some unstable talus. The hike was awesome, the fall colors were breathtaking, and the only other people we encountered all day were up in
paragliders miles away catching the evening thermals. A great day and an amazing adventure into the high alpine areas of Hatcher Pass.
Here we are surrounded by the beautiful red fall colors of blueberry and bearberry
