RedKlaw
makes his way to the northern reaches, ruled by the King Kenlow, a fair
King, but one almost fanatical about the religion of the North. RedCloak
knows of a healer there, and hopes that she may help with his problem.
No known cybernetic attachment has ever replaced his hand-- they are
always rejected. He does not realize that the healer is King Kenlow's
daughter Seraph.
|
|
While
speaking to her about his problem, she experiences a vision-- a piece
of the prophecy about the coming cataclysm. She begs him to save a man
imprisoned beneath her father's castle. Reluctantly, he braves the underground
catacombs and rescues a huge barbarian man. The man is none other than
Entigo, Seraph's lover. Both men feel a kinship toward one another and
escape with Seraph back to Founder's City.
|
|
On
their return to Founder's City, they run across a dark-skinned man with
a cybernetic eye inside a bar RedCloak frequently attends. The man is
looking for a young man named Mercer, who was once romantically linked
with the bar owner Talia's sister, Meggan. To his surprise, the man
is believed to have died some five years earlier. However, RedCloak
had made his acquaintance during his sojourn northward. The one-eyed
man joins the other two men, telling them his name is Saarbus. At the
mention of the name, something happens in the minds of the men and they
begin to remember things they had not known they had known.
|
|
Shockingly,
they are all brothers, sharing the same genetic material. And that there
are two more of them. Wanting to find more and unleash these new memories,
they decide to search for their missing brothers. But there is another
who is searching as well: a huge assassin known only as Skull.
|
|
Before
they leave the city, they are met by Mercer, obviously not dead at all.
He, too, has had some of his memories return. Including vague memories
of their eldest brother. RedCloak begins to remember things about his
missing hand as well-- namely that he lost it to the eldest brother.
Second thoughts are common as they wonder about looking for their brother.
|
|
Their
search takes them far, but it is their final brother who finds them.
After an attack, he decides to listen to them. They soon discover that
Shaffron is the only one who has retained all his memories. He tells
them about the Founder and about the approaching cataclysm. These five
are the messiah, destined to save the world. Before they can set off,
they are attacked by Skull. By the end of their battle, they know that
Skull is not as human as they thought-- nor is their brother Shaffron.
|
|
Returning
to Founder's city, they find the cataclysm has already begun. With the
help of the Founder's daughter, Angelina, they kill the Founder and
forestall the cosmic alignment. But not before the power of the cataclysm
is unleashed. Fully three-fourths of the world's remaining population
is wiped out.
|
|
In
the aftermath, Angelina is seated on the throne, still well-loved by
the populace. She banishes the rules among the genetic elite and rules
with a fair hand. Seraph marries Entigo against King Kenlow's wishes
and seeks asylum in Founder's City. She is appointed as High Priestess
to the sects of the Northern religion still alive in the city. Entigo
is appointed as the Minister to Ecological Control, restoring the damage
the city has already created. Shaffron is appointed her High Councilor,
having been her teacher as she grew. RedKlaw and Mercer return to the
streets and Saarbus takes it upon himself to keep the streets safe.
|
|
In
the meantime, others are introduced. Alessandra is another member of
Shaffron's and Skull's enigmatic race. She is taken under the councilor's
wing as an apprentice. Also, King Kenlow sends his youngest daughter,
Amara, to be his apprentice as well, for reasons still unknown. And
this is where we find the Brotherhood today...
